Update: Third victim of Lagos helicopter crash has died

 

The third crew member in helicopter that crashed into a building at Opebi, Lagos State has died.

A Bell 206-3 helicopter with registration number 5N-BQW belonging to Quorum Aviation crashed into a wall between two buildings at 16 A Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja this afternoon. A statement from the company said all three occupants were crew members who flew in from Port Harcourt.

Two of the crew members died at the scene of the incident while the third one survived and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LASUTH. Sadly, he lost his life, bring the total number of casualties to three.

US imposes visa ban on election riggers in Nigeria

The U.S. Department of State in a statement on Monday, September 14, 2020 said the unnamed individuals are being sanctioned for their untoward actions surrounding the elections which took place in November 2019. The department's spokesperson, Morgan Ortagus , said the restriction also affects those who behaved inappropriately in the run up to the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo scheduled for September and October 2020, respectively "These individuals have so far operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and have undermined democratic principles,"Ortagus said.
